TEACHER WORKSHOP
Connecting Contemporary Art and the Classroom
10 am - 4 pm
Kemper Art Museum

This workshop is designed to explore new strategies for learning about and teaching with contemoprary art, and invites educators to broaden their knowledge and appreciation of recent works of art while discovering ways to creatively engage students in arts learning.

As part of the workshop teachers will spend time in the galleries, and engage in conversations with experts in the field of art education and museum teacing. Guest educators will include Denise Gray, Senior Education Programs Coordinator at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. Teachers will also learn more about local, regional, and national resources to support their classroom teaching and professional development.

Fee: $50 (includes breakfast, refreshments, lunch, and a packet of resources)

New Media Workshop
Willie Doherty's Ghost Story
6:30 pm
Kemper Art Museum

Join curators Sabine Eckmann and Lutz Koepnick for an in-depth discussion and closer look at Willie Doherty's video installation Ghost Story (2007), currently on display in the special exhibition On the Margins. Some key issues pertaining to video art that relate to Doherty's piece will include video art and embodied experience, as well as landscape and memory.
