Screen Arts and New Media Aesthetics Series
The Screen Arts and New Media Aesthetics Series is designed to stimulate discussion about the aesthetics of the digital and the location of new media art in current research, discourse, and artistic practice. Although publications and exhibitions on new media are wide-ranging and include monographic studies, historical accounts, and theoretical analyses, thematic explorations that connect theoretical discourse with aesthetic forms are still rare. The aim of this series is to provide such a platform. By placing electronic art forms side by side with photography, film, video, and other older forms of technological art, the series aims to advance our understanding of the interface between art and technology in today's world.
Focus Series
The Focus Series is intended to explore a theme, a single work, or a group of works by a single artist. Drawn predominantly from the permanent collection, Focus exhibitions are accompanied by publications with scholarly essays. The series enables the Kemper Art Museum to show works that have had little exposure in the past, or reconsider more familiar pieces in new contexts.
Contemporary Projects Series
The Contemporary Projects series is designed to highlight the work of nationally and internationally significant visual artists and to explore their contributions to contemporary research, discourse and artistic practice.
